Applying Automotive Engineering Techniques to Non-Automotive Problems
The techniques that have been developed and applied to solve automotive problems by Caepro can often be applied to solving engineering problems in other industries.
Over the last 20 years Caepro has solved problems across a range of industries including Aerospace, Marine, Defence, Rail, Medical Equipment and Energy.
Non-Automotive Specific Challenges
Each industry has its own specific sets of requirements across its unique products.
However, many of the problems faced can still be categorised under one of the attributes covered by the automotive industry:
- Durability and lightweighting
- Thermal and Aerodynamics
- Modal and NVH
- Safety
- Electrification
With less product and application experience in these industries Caepro will typically work more closely with the client engineering teams to provide suitable solutions.
“Caepro’s low costs allowed us to do sufficient virtual verification to have confidence in going ahead with a prototype. Testing bore out the results and recommendations from the simulation. Their ability to provide quality design and simulation at a low price is very attractive for small companies with limited resources.”

Non-Automotive Solutions
Caepro has successfully applied its attribute engineering capability to solve problems in a variety of industries.
The requirement for a product to meet its durability targets so that it doesn’t fail during operation is ubiquitous across all industries. Once this basic requirement is achieved the product can be developed through light-weighting or cost-reduction to create additional value.
Most products will have additional performance targets to meet in NVH, thermal or safety. This can be to optimise the performance of the product or improve the comfort and safety of the operator.
Most industries are under pressure to reduce the carbon footprint of their products. This can lead to programmes to reduce emissions of powertrains, the use of alternative fuels and increase electrification.
